An Extraordinary Event - Go and Remember...New York Post
A new adaptation for a new generation and the winner of Drama Critics Circle Award, the Tony Award, and the Pulitzer Prize, Anne Frank became an international hit when it first opened in 1955. In a recent revival, the play was described by Time Magazine as "one of the year's best. Anne Frank's voice shines forth." Scenes of warmth and humor illuminate the suspense, drama, and pathos. This "coming of age" story will feature some of Lamp-Lite's most talented young stars. Megan Farrish and Annelise Williams alternate in the title role. Jacob Barnhill and Brody Untiedt as Peter; Morgan Cook and Jessica Oswald as Margo. Also included in the cast are: Ken Untiedt, Pat Harris, Charisse Glazener, Chris Englert, Elaine Pondant, Ron Hurst, Lee Pittman, Gerry Peacock, Hans Williams, and Bill Small.
In this transcendently powerful new adaptation by Wendy Kesselman, Anne Frank emerges from history a living, lyrical, intensely gifted young girl, who confronts her rapidly changing life and the increasing horror of her time with astonishing honesty, wit, and determination. An impassioned drama about the lives of eight people hiding from the Nazis in a concealed storage attic. The Diary of Anne Frank captures the claustrophobic realities of their daily existence--their fear, their hope, their laughter, their grief. Each day of these two dark years, Anne's voice shines through: "When I write I shake off all my cares. But I want to achieve more than that. I want to be useful and bring enjoyment to all people, even those I've never met. I want to go on living even after my death."
Three of the characters in "The Diary..." are double cast. Some of Lamp-Lite's Patrons are interested in attending "The Diary..." when a particular performer will be on stage. Please note the following dates and make plans accordingly:
