A Turner Classic Favorite Film
On Borrowed Time, known to many as a Turner Class Movie, comes back to Lamp-Lite by request. The popular "comedy with a heart" stars veteran actor, Garland Buffalo, as Gramps and introduces 11 year old Noah LaRive as grandson, Pud.
Lionel Barrymore played Gramps in the original movie and George C. Scott played an "Old Cuss" of a character in a later stage version.
Sharon Buffalo plays Granny, and Bill Small portrays Mr. Brink, a character created by Nathan Lane on Broadway. Favorite comedians: Jody Ryan, Linda Licht, Ken Wood, Lee Broadwater, and Justin Hughes play key roles along with Joel Watts, Gerry Peacock, Duncan Farrish, Graham Culpepper, and Tim Hooper.
Set in the 1930s in a small town in Middle America, the play spins out the tale of an independent old man struggling to raise a young grandchild as he fights away old age and even death itself, personified in the character of Mr. Brink. The author of the play, Paul Osborn, also wrote screen plays for South Pacific, Sayonara, World of Susie Wong, and East of Eden.
